Introduction
The proposed Equistrian club is an adaptive reuse project of a 106 year old Haveli in Bhavnagr, Gujarat. The club serves Equine enthusiasts to meet the other enthusiasts and a also have family weekend get away, to relax and reflect in quietitude of the village along with horse riding activities. During summer vacations, school kids attend horse riding workshops in the property.

The site is located in a a small village known as Dared in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat. The village has a rain fed river on the eastern side which is dry for 8 months a year. Place is quite and peaceful. This is a 106 yeas old haveli of the kings from the Solanki empire.

The journey from the state highway leading into the labyrinthine streets of the village is very refreshing. Kathiawadi Maaldharis and their cows often occupy the roads as they go grazing. Landscape is sparse and green, one feels expanded here. But there's a disturbing and confining break to this experience as soon as we enter the thick, tall fort walls. Hence the design intervention aims at creating connection between external context, the nature and indoor spaces of the fort to continue the feeling of expansion experienced during journey.

Concept Development

Unification
Creating smooth visual transition by unifying the built, following predictable/ effective movement path. Connecting built and fort walls. Repeating Jarokhas
and repeating structural language of elevation and smooth straight forward circulation.

Turtle Metaphor
Coming out onto fort wall for inspiration, by activity like reading, star gazing, walking, spa, watching horizon. Going in for reflection, in spaces like pond, cafe and bastion.

Connecting outdoor and indoor.
By being able to see adjacent spaces and outdoor spaces at any given point. Therefore feeling connected.
Movement Path
Responding to the site analysis and site impressions, in order to create connection with the sky as soon as one enters the fort, the ramp is added and thus movement path is from top to bottom. One first enters the reception and restaurant areas through the ramp and further go to ground floor for accomodation.
